Xenia Stanford, Editor-in-Chief (e-mail)
Xenia StanfordXenia Stanford is currently the president and chief executive officer of Stanford Solutions Inc., devoted to empowering others to manage knowledge by using practical tools. Stanford's first training and use of knowledge mapping techniques was at universities where she was employed as a research officer in the field of education. After many years as a library and records manager, she became a Change Leader involved in re-organizational design and process restructuring. Throughout her career in business and now as president of her own company, she has helped corporations save millions of dollars.

Born and raised in Alberta with the exception of two years of her childhood in British Columbia, Stanford has studied at several universities and conducted research into learning effectiveness at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada and Macquarie University in North Ryde, Australia. She taught students from nearly every grade including pre-school and university. The teaching locations included the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia as well as Australia and Fiji. Work and personal travels have taken her to several other provinces in Canada, various states in Australia and the United States (including Hawaii) and several countries in mainland Europe.

Stanford has a Bachelor of Education degree and has completed course work for Master's degrees in several disciplines, including literature and linguistics, library science and management. She has published many articles and conducted many workshops on the subject of knowledge management and the techniques of mapping and auditing. She wrote a Web column on leadership, and won an international writing contest for her article "Delighting the Customer." Her research into the areas of knowledge mapping and auditing is ongoing, and her constantly improving courses reflect the benefit of her continuous learning. She now brings that learning to her latest venture: KnowMap.

She has the honour of being placed on the Global Knowledge Leadership Map and to lead a session at Global Learn Day V dubbed the Virtual Dinner Party on The Education Scare: The Monster is Out There!.

Debra M. Amidon, Global View Director (e-mail)
Debra M. AmidonDebra M. Amidon is the chair and chief executive officer of Entovation International, Ltd., a global innovation research and consulting network linking 80 countries throughout the world. Her own specialties include knowledge strategy, learning networks, customer innovation and enterprise transformation.

Debra M. Amidon was born and raised outside Boston Massachusetts. She has held a variety of administrative and instructional posts in the US, Canada, Mexico and The Netherlands, including within education, government and industry. Her network spans 80 countries and her own presentations have been heard throughout North and South America, Eastern and Western Europe, Asia and South Africa. Her articles and books are published in a dozen languages.

Amidon holds degrees from Boston University, Columbia University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior professional positions include serving as assistant secretary of education for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well as the founding executive director of the Northeast Consortium of Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts and the first female dean at Babson College.

A prolific writer, her progressive management concepts and methodologies are often cited in the research of others. Her "Momentum of Knowledge Management" and the subsequent "Global Momentum of Knowledge Strategy" are available in many languages over the World Wide Web. In fact, her books have been published in French, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese and German. Her most recent publications are Innovation Strategy for the Knowledge Economy: The Ken Awakening (1997) (see our Review), Creating the Knowledge-Based Business (1997), and Collaborative Innovation and the Knowledge Economy (1998), Architectural Primer (2000) (see our Review) and The Global Knowledge Primer (2001) (see our Review). Judith Rempel, Systems & Strategies Director (e-mail)
Judith RempelJudith Rempel, President of JR Solutions, a company that delivers web design and intuitive information architecture. She has been designing websites since 1995. Rempel specializes in designing websites for professional organizations that are content-oriented. She has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree in sociology, and has completed the course work for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in social demography and gerontology. She studied at the universities of Waterloo and Western Ontario.

Judith Rempel was born and raised in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia. Her career has taken her to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and Winnipeg, Manitoba with an international relief and development organization. She studied in Southern Ontario (Sociology and Demography, Universities of Waterloo and Western Ontario) and then worked as a social researcher with the Manitoba Government, the City of Calgary and a non-profit organization in Calgary, Alberta. Her favourite international travels were to Italy and Peru and she hopes to get to Ukraine, Siberia and Philippines in the next few years.

In her websites, her goal is to provide web pages that are clean looking, clear and crisp regardless of visitors' hardware or software capabilities. Rempel also works to develop websites that remain easy to use and easy to reorganize as they grow. She won the first New England Genealogy Society's Genealogy Technology Excellence Award for her work on the Canadian Genealogical Projects Registry.

Laurie LaLiberté, Media Director (e-mail)
Laurie LaLiberteLaurie LaLiberté is a certified Marketing and Communications Specialist currently consulting to Small to Medium Size Businesses on Marketing and Communications strategies and practices.

She has over 20 years experience in Marketing and Communications and held positions as Vice President, Corporate Communications, Business Development Manager and Channel Marketing Manager for the technology sector, based in Silicon Valley.

LaLiberté has launched several successful campaigns, directed international Users' Conferences and formed strategic alliance partnerships with companies that include Microsoft, Great Plains Software and Onyx Corporation. She is accomplished in public and media relations, event management and marketing communications in an international environment. She is currently an active member of the International Association of Business Communicators.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, LaLiberté worked for 15 years in various management capacities for Great West Life Assurance Company Headquarters prior to relocating to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

A.H. (Al) Mierau, Positioning Director
A. H. (Al) MierauAl Mierau as the past chief executive officer of Search Engine Positioning Specialists built this firm, which specializes in improving web site rankings with major search engines. During this time he acted as a consultant on Internet marketing and search engine positioning for many clients.

Mierau is a certified search engine technician and teaches a class for beginners at LVS Online. He also teaches a class in film photography for beginners. More information is available at mierau.ca

Mierau worked for three of Canada's largest lending institutions for twenty years as an expert in lending and marketing. He later returned to university and then opened his own appraisal investigation firm often acting as an expert witness in arson cases. With this investigative mind, Mierau turned his interest to search engines positioning completing a course on the subject at Keeneshaw University. He used his search engine and marketing expertise to establish the web presence of KnowMap and Stanford Solutions, Inc.

However, Mierau is not all science. He has a very creative mind, which shows in his pursuit of arts, such as making Rustic Willow furniture, oil painting and photography. When he is not pursuing these endeavours, he can be found on lakes catamaran sailing, which he teaches for free just for the love of it (Catamaran Sailing Lessons).

In everything he does Mierau strives for excellence. We are very fortunate to have him as our advisor and Positioning Director.
