Challenge - Knowledge Innovation: The Role of Information ProfessionalsDebra M. Amidon challenges us: Are we ready to innovate our future together! Below we capture what others in the information profession said during the web seminar about their role in moving organizations toward knowledge innovation. Then contribute your own views (you do not have to consider yourself an information professional) to win a complimentary Emerald subscription to KnowMap. Here are the questions asked during the Special Libraries
Association virtual seminar September 25, 2002 There were 141 people at 30 sites that participated in the live virtual seminar. 1. Which one of the following best describes where you currently work?
The answers were not saved.
2. Do you see your role as information professionals as integral to the enterprise innovation system?
Figure 1 shows that the majority responded highly likely followed by somewhat likely. Some were unsure. 3. Do you feel you have the necessary research, training, professional direction and/or internal credibility to be a full functioning part of the innovation team?
Figure 2 indicates that the majority said they were somewhat likely to have the necessary background followed by highly likely. A few responded that it was somewhat unlikely and the rest were split between very unlikely and unsure. 4. Do you have evidence that the role of modern information professional is shaping each of the 7C's of Knowledge Leadership?
Figure 3 demonstrates that the majority felt they were somewhat likely to have evidence of their roles shaping the 7C's. The remaining choices were divided with a slight edge of those in the highly likely and then somewhat likely. Very unlikely and unsure were tied for the last choices.
