Liz Blankson-Hemans
Blankson-Hemans has over 15 years experience in the information industry. She spent more than 10 of these (1989-2001) at Clifford Chance LLP, rising to manage the Central Information Services, which provided a wide range of resources and services to the world's premier law firm. Her role included managing teams responsible for vendor supply relationships and contract negotiation, research and reference services including intranet content development and user training, as well as resource and systems management. She was also involved in knowledge management activities at the firm including taxonomy and classification control initiatives. Prior to Clifford Chance, she spent 4 years at various branch and reference libraries in the City of Westminster, United Kingdom. An active participant in professional activities and a Chartered Member of CILIP, she is also a board member and membership chair of the European Chapter of the Special Libraries Association (SLA). She is also the SLA's Legal Division European Liaison and writes a regular column for their quarterly newsletter. In addition, she has occasionally written book reviews for ASLIB's Managing Information and belongs to other professional interest groups like the City Information Group (CIG) and the UK Online Users Group (UKOLUG). Liz
Blankson-Hemans is Manager of Information Professional Development Programs
for Dialog in Europe. She manages the deployment of Quantum2 in Europe
as well as the EMEA (The European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal
Products) Dialog Customer Advisory Board, and coordinates Dialog's interactions
with European professional groups such as CILIP (Chartered Institute
of Library and Information Professionals), the European Chapter of Special
Libraries Association (SLA) and UKOLOG (UK Online Users Group).
