Chin Hoon Lau

Chin Hoon LauLAU Chin Hoon, who currently lives in Johor Bahru (Malaysia), is the Managing Director of Lagenda Knowledge Systems, which he founded in 1997. He specializes in Internet-based channels and core competencies for knowledge networking. This includes the integration of e-learning, online community and innovation strategy into affordable solutions for organizational renewal in Small and Medium Industries and nonprofits.

He is an associate of the Entovation International (E100 network) and is featured in its Global Knowledge Leadership Map. To summarize his present focus, Lau calls himself knowledge- or ken-preneur, and "an innovator of intangibles in cyberspace and knowledge society".

His involvement in the innovation of Internet-based knowledge systems and community of practice dated back to 1996 when he initiated a collaborative e-learning course for doctoral and post-doctoral researchers and molecular biologists which has since attracted participants from more than 25 countries. He also founded the Internet Biologists, a front-running international and purely virtual organization.

Lau, who holds both a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Master of Science degree, is a Novell Certified Internet Business Strategist. His past background includes research in molecular biotechnology with major in DNA sequencing and genome analysis and executive directorship in an e-learning start-up.

He serves as the Community Service Director at the Rotary Club of Kulai (District 3310), Webmaster for various websites, and moderator of Malaysian Life Scientists list. He also develops an online community advocating knowledge management in debate activities.

He has completed many studies on Internet collaboration and knowledge strategies submitting the results in published papers and as conference presentations.
