Adrian Ward
Until recently, Ward was Leader of Collaboration, Knowledge & Learning for Hughes Space & Communications Company (HSC) now part of Boeing Satellite Systems and the world's top producer of commercial communications satellites. In this role, he led HSC's efforts to understand, manage, leverage, and expand its human capital. He was the principal visionary and champion for HSC's knowledge sharing and re-use, competency management, communities of practice, and intranet efforts, and one of the early pioneers in successfully implementing these within a large corporation using grass roots, community-based approaches. His efforts led to HSC being named a knowledge management best practice company in 1996. Prior to joining Hughes, Ward was a management, manufacturing and information systems consultant for Ernst and Young. The balance of his long career has taken him through most functional areas in a wide variety of industries including the public sector, giving him his broad systems perspective of business, organizations, and the people, processes, and technology within them. As an anthropologist and natural adventurer, Ward is very interested in interacting with, learning about, and interconnecting other cultures. The key constants throughout his career have been his focus on the future, his involvement in and leadership of change, his efforts to tap the unrealized promise of information technology, and his intense interest in human potential and learning. He is known for relentlessly pursuing these passions with humor and compassion in all areas of his work and life. For more information, visit: www.workfrontiers.com/ Articles by This Author
