Here be Dragons: Knowledge versus Dragons

Here be Dragons
Can you think of any reason ancient mariners believed it was bad luck to sail with the same crew twice?

Ancient mariners used the image of the dragon with the note "Here be dragons" to show the ends of the known world. What more appropriate image for knowledge management in this Year of the Dragon!

Later explorers and mapmakers used "Terra Incognito" to show the as yet unknown, uncharted territories. Modern cartographers tend to chart only the known.

Which philosophy offers the most to those who seek to use and manage knowledge for the growth of their enterprises and explorations?
